Porsche’s “entry-level” model gets some purposeful tweaking for 2007. Engines are now identical to those on Cayman and Cayman S (those coupes essentially share the Boxster’s platform, which locates the engine “midship”). This means a bigger engine for S models (to 3.4 litres, from 3.2), and that Porsche’s variable-valve-timing system (VariCamPlus) is on both the 3.4 and on the base 2.7-litre. Additionally, the optional Tiptronic S transmission has been revised, the tire pressure monitoring system is now standard, and a new wheel option has been added — the 19-inch, forged alloy, two-tone set developed for the 911 Turbo. The Boxster has always been a huge sports car treat, and represented the best value/performance equation in the Porsche line — the new upgrades
make it even more so.
